Welcome to the BUGS family! What makes our innovative sustainability curriculum and hands-on approach to learning so special is you! We are excited to welcome students who share our passion for environmental, social, and economic sustainability and want to be part of a community committed to building a more just and sustainable world.

We will begin student enrollment in May 2025. Once you accept your seat at BUGS, we will contact you soon after with additional enrollment information.

Please note that the first day of school is

Monday, August 25, 2025.

Enrollment is ongoing, and you must have an appointment.

  • If you have been offered a seat and you choose to accept it, we will email you the link to make an online appointment. Enrollments will be virtual.

  • Please allow for at least 30 minutes before your appointment to complete and upload the necessary paperwork. The enrollment appointment will also be about 30 minutes.

  • Spanish speaking staff members will be available at the times indicated on the enrollment signup form.

  • Your child does not have to be present for the appointment.

  • You will need internet access, and a working email address in order to complete your child’s enrollment.

  • Reminder! All enrollment forms must be completed and documents submitted prior to your enrollment appointment. See below for the list of materials that will be needed for enrollment.

materials needed TO ENROLL YOUR CHILD:

Required

  • Your ID (a driver’s license or other official State ID)

  • A copy of your child’s Birth Certificate 

  • A copy of your child’s Complete Immunization Records (see here for required immunizations)

  • Two documents showing proof of address, or CSD (Community School District). For a list of acceptable REQUIRED documents, please see below. 

Submit the following only if they are appropriate for your student:

  • A copy of your child's Individualized Education Plan (IEP), 504 Accommodation Plan, or any other forms and evaluations you would like to share (if applicable)

  • Proof of Guardianship (if your name is not on the birth certificate)

  • A copy of documentation showing a name change, such as a Marriage License (if your current name is not on the Birth Certificate 

  • A copy of a Medication Administration Form and/or Asthma Medication Administration Form (if your child requires medication during the school day); see the DOE Health Services Page for updated forms.  


PROOF OF Community school District(CSD) / RESIDENCY:

You must provide at least 2 of the documents listed below (please provide copies, not originals):

  • Your lease, deed or mortgage statement for where you reside.

  • A utility bill, in your name, dated in the last 60 days. The utility bill should be a gas or electric bill from Con Edison or National Grid.

  • A water bill for your residence, dated within the past 90 days.

  • A bill for cable television service, that includes your name and your address, dated in the last 60 days.

  • A document on letterhead from a federal, state, or local government agency that includes your name and address and is also dated within the last 60 days. Government agency documents may come from agencies such as, but not limited to:

    • The Internal Revenue Service (IRS)

    • The New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCSF)

    • The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA)

    • The Human Resources Administration (HRA)

    • The Administration for Children's Services (ACS)

  • A current property tax bill for your residence.

  • A rent receipt, that includes your address of residence, dated within the past 60 days.

  • A non-expired and official New York State driver’s license, non-driver identification card, or a learner’s permit, which includes your current address.

  • State, city, or other government issued identification (including an IDNYC card), which has not expired, and includes your address of residence.

  • An income tax form for the last calendar year.

  • Official payroll documentation from your employer, dated within the past 60 days. This can be a pay stub or a payroll receipt with your home address on it. 

  • Voter registration documents, which includes your name and the address of residence.

  • Unexpired membership documents based upon residency (like a neighborhood residents’ association), which includes your name and address of residence.

PLEASE NOTE:ONLY the items above can be accepted as proof of CSD. Certain documents may not be accepted as proof of residency or proof of address. These documents are: letter of employment, phone bill, credit card bill, medical insurance cards
