After-School Program

Welcome to the Italian American Civil Rights League (I.A.C.R.L) After-School Program at Brooklyn Urban Garden Charter School (BUGS). This program is funded by NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD) and is provided at no cost to families.

The After-School Schedule Monday-Thursday 2:40-5:45pm and Friday 2:55-5:45 and select half days and Holidays

How to Apply:

  • Submit the online DYCD Connect form (preferred). Or, you can click here to download the paper application in English and click here for Spanish.

  • Provide the BUGS After-School Director with a copy of birth certificate and medical form. The Director and team will be onsite to receive materials beginning the first week of September.

  • The BUGS supplemental application (will be sent to families through TeacherEase)

Extracurricular clubs may include Studio Art, Film, Track, Cooking, Green Girls, Debate, Robotics, Arts and Crafts, Sports and Recreational Activities, Academic Club (homework and enrichment), and study hall (subject to change). Check back here for updates.

The After-School Schedule operates Monday-Thursday 2:40-5:45pm and Friday 2:55-5:45pm and select half days and Holidays. All students are required to actively participate in two (2) hours of Leadership and one (1) hour of STEM activities each week in conjunction with our extracurricular clubs. A portion of the program will also provide homework help, tutoring, and study hall sessions.

There are 100 slots available on a first-come, first-served basis to students who have submitted completed applications. 

A Completed Application includes:

    • Submitting the online DYCD Connect form

    • Providing the BUGS After-School Director with a copy of birth certificate and medical form

    • Submitting the BUGS supplemental application (will be sent to families through TeacherEase)

Physical actvity is just one of the movement programs available during afterschool.

After-school Holiday Camp

In addition to the daily after-school program, students enrolled in the program have access to the IACRL Holiday Camp. More information for the 2024-25 school year to come.
