New York State Testing Reminders for Hybrid and Remote Families

 

Remote Families & Students

  • If you have chosen for your student to TAKE the NY State Test for ELA, the student will be paired with a hybrid group and be assigned a day to take the state test. Ms.Shinelle Romeo-Walcott has emailed individual families with arrival times and dismissal times.

  • Remote families who are NOT having their student take the NY State Test for ELA, will have a regular week of remote classes with a 1pm dismissal (8:30-1:00). They should follow their Google Calendar meets.

 

Hybrid Families & Students

  • If you have chosen for your Hybrid student to TAKE the NY State Test for ELA, the student will come to school on the assigned scheduled day (see below). Students will be dismissed at 1 p.m. for the day - there are no afternoon classes. Hybrid students will only come into school next week for their state test (one day only), the rest of the week is remote classes with a 1 p.m. dismissal (8:30 -1:00).

 

Student State Test ELA Schedule (week of April 19): 

  • 6th Grade Group A: Tuesday, April 20

    • Arrival- 8:10 a.m

    • Dismissal (after lunch)- 1:00 p.m

  • 6th Grade Group B: Wednesday, April 21

    • Arrival- 8:10 a.m

    • Dismissal- 1:00 p.m

  • 7th Grade Group A: Thursday, April 22

    • Arrival- 8:10 a.m

    • Dismissal- 1:00 p.m

  • 7th Grade Group B: Friday, April 23

    • Arrival- 8:10 a.m

    • Dismissal- 1:00 p.m

  • All 8th Grade Hybrid Students (Group A & B): Thursday. April 22

    • Arrival- 8:10 a.m

    • Dismissal- 1:00 p.m



  • If your student is Hybrid and you have REFUSED to take the NYS test on behalf of your student, the student will have remote classes all week. They will be invited by remote teachers to join their classes on the scheduled testing day that they would have been onsite. They should consult their google calendar for those invitations.

Important Onsite and Dismissal information for Testing

 

Arrival

Students should  arrive by 8:10 a.m. and will be directed to their classrooms. After 8:35 a.m., students must come in through the Main Entrance of the building and check in at the Security desk. Remember the health screening and your charged chromebook!

 

Dismissal 

All STUDENTS (Hybrid and Remote) will be dismissed by 1:00 p.m. Students will not be allowed to leave early/self dismiss even if they complete their test early. This is to allow other students who are still testing to complete their test in a quiet environment without disruptions.

 

REMINDERS!

 

  • The state tests this year are all Computer Based Testing (CBT) so please make sure your students BRINGS in their Chromebook on the day they have to take the State Test and please make sure that their Chromebook is fully charged for the day as we are limited with power outlets.

 

  • Make sure that your child gets a good night’s rest and has a hearty breakfast. School breakfast will also be provided when students arrive.

  • If your child prefers to bring school lunch, remember to pack it or school lunch will be available as well. Pack some reading materials for your students so that they have something to do if they finish their test early. No personal technology is permitted.

  • Remember that all previous onsite safety procedures apply during state testing week.
